An ongoing effort to transition from an outdated "Access Nebraska" platform in favor of "iServe Nebraska" platform for Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (NDHHS)
Signing up for Medicaid, SNAP, LIHEAP, Childcare Services, and other social services can be overwhelming. With the new "iServe Nebraska" platform from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (NDHHS), we simplified the process by showing pre-filled data where possible, creating a mobile-friendly experience, and using common-sense workflows that prompt users for information as needed. This approach ensures we only ask for the information required to determine eligibility for services. To learn more, please visit the iServe Nebraska website.
##Component Library Management
With the transition from the "Access Nebraska" to the "iServe Nebraska" platform, the tech stack was updated to utilize the Mantine Component Library. Despite Mantine's robust component offerings, we still developed custom components as needed. One of my primary responsibilities is maintaining this component library in Figma and creating custom components that utilize existing Mantine sub-components.
##Conclusion
I've been with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (NDHHS) for a little over a year. During this time, the remaining features of "Access Nebraska" have been transitioned to the "iServe Nebraska" platform, resulting in a better experience for our users. Balancing state and federal policy requirements with a user-friendly experience has been challenging, but I believe we've succeeded in making the process less overwhelming for those seeking social services. This overview is just a snippet of the work accomplished at NDHHS. Please inquire if you'd like to learn more about the features I've worked on, designs I've created, or my other responsibilities at NDHHS.
